Executive summary · Section 3
3. Positioning: iPhone app leads
Value prop (yours, made iPhone-first):
Every photo your daycare ever posted of your child, in your iPhone’s camera roll in minutes, kept current all year, and we never see a single one.
Big idea (keep): “Your daycare’s photos aren’t yours. Yet.”
Four beats (keep), with the iPhone proof for each:
| Beat | iPhone proof line |
|---|---|
| 1. All of them, forever | “Every photo and video since the first drop-off, in a Daycare Photo Download album in your camera roll.” |
| 2. Now, not someday | “One tap, a few minutes, on the phone you already have in your hand.” No computer needed. |
| 3. Current all year | “Run it monthly; only what’s new.” Plus the iPhone-only extra: picture day, closures and spirit week from teacher notes, onto your calendar with a tap (supporting point, not the headline, per CALENDAR-LAUNCH.md). |
| 4. Private | “Log in on Procare’s own page inside the app. Photos go straight to your phone. We never see them.” |
Suggested homepage hero (replaces the computer-centric line; keeps your Angle D):
- H1: “Every photo your daycare posted. On your phone tonight.”
- Primary CTA: App Store badge. Secondary text link: “On a laptop or Chromebook? Add it to Chrome.”
- On desktop browsers, swap the order (Chrome first, with “Also on iPhone” plus a QR to the App Store).
One license, every device: a license bought in the iPhone app also unlocks the Chrome extension (and vice versa for website buyers). Say it wherever space allows; it turns Chrome from a separate product into a free bonus for iPhone buyers.
Chrome’s role (secondary): for parents who keep the family archive on a computer, Chromebook households, and Android parents (no Android app yet; the Chrome path is the site’s stated workaround). One line on every surface, never the lead.
Personas:
- Leaving parent (May–Aug peak; mid-year switches all year).
- Current memory-keeper on iPhone (the camera roll is the family archive).
- Holiday photo book / card maker (Oct–Dec emphasis).
- Grandparents and co-parent (beneficiaries: AirDrop or a shared album straight from the camera roll).
- Directors (distribution).
Market check, which confirms the iOS bet (not news):
- The paid alternative parents will find, NurseryDownloader, runs in Chrome on a laptop or desktop. Its own site says it “can’t be installed on a phone”.
- The free options are GitHub console scripts or desktop programs.
- The Procare parent experience lives on the phone, so the gap you deliberately went after is still open: the only one-tap way to get every photo into the camera roll.
- Shipping the Chrome extension as well means desktop-intent searchers aren’t handed to the competitor by default.
- Implications:
- (a) On mobile placements, say “iPhone” and “camera roll” in the first line.
- (b) On desktop searches, compete on refund, privacy and “also on your phone”.
- (c) Never name competitors in ads. A factual comparison belongs only on an honest alternatives page (§7).
