6. App Store Optimization (iOS “SEO”)
ASO is the iOS-first equivalent of organic search. These are cheap, compounding changes.
-
Ratings (highest priority):
- Prompt for a rating with Apple’s in-app review prompt (
SKStoreReviewController/requestReview) right after a successful full backup (“1,247 photos saved”). Apple shows it at most 3 times a year per user. - Also ask paying users in the day-3 email (
MESSAGING.md §8).
- Prompt for a rating with Apple’s in-app review prompt (
-
Screenshots:
- The 6 in
app-store/screenshots/are your best phone-first creative (§14). - Make sure screenshot 1 states the outcome (“Every daycare photo, in your camera roll”) rather than the license screen.
- Plan in
CALENDAR-LAUNCH.md: screenshot 3 = “Picture day, on your calendar. One tap.”

- Product Page Optimization: A/B test screenshot 1, outcome vs. “before your account closes”, once traffic allows.
-
In-App Events (App Store feature, free):
- “Back up before winter break” (Dec)
- “Halloween parade photos: save the originals” (Oct 27 – Nov 3)
- “Save the year’s photos” (late Dec)
- These surface in App Store search and on the product page.
-
Subtitle / keywords:
- The subtitle “Save every Procare photo” is fine.
- Keywords currently include
procareandkinderlime. Apple’s guidelines discourage other parties’ trademarks in metadata. It passed review, but if Procare ever complains, have a fallback set ready:daycare, photos, download, backup, preschool, childcare, camera roll, memories, toddler, save, export.
-
Promotional text (editable without review): rotate seasonally.
- Oct: “Halloween photos are in the daycare app. Save the originals to your camera roll tonight.”
- Nov–Dec: “Every daycare photo, full size, ready for the photo book.”
- Update listing docs to match live (in-app purchase $19.99, privacy labels). See §2b #3.
